Creator reveals!

And that's a wrap for 2016! I am pleased to say that we have unlocked one last achievement: I've Seen A Million Gifts and I Commented On Them All. The achievement spreadsheet shall be updated once gdocs behaves itself for me. If you have not yet commented on your gift, please do so!

I'm also interested in hearing what you thought of this year's exchange! Anything you liked about it and would like to see in future years? Anything you'd like tweaked, changed, removed entirely? I'm all ears! I'm particularly interested in the following:

Update on Archive Reveal Time

All pinch hits are in! Subject to any unexpected delays, such as deleted or incomplete gifts, we should be going live at 11:59pm on September 18 2016

There are some achievements that are very close to falling as well, so let's see what we can achieve in a week! If I have missed any, let me know!

On that note, as promised, I've prepared a list of everyone who turned in their assignment and has less than three gifts, so that we can try and achieve some of the treating achievements. I'll keep this list updated as we progress through the week. Let's get some names moved through (and ultimately off) this list!

Post-Deadline Pinch Hits

The deadline has passed and we have had some people who have fallen in the battle against the final boss! That said, we're doing this dungeon together as a team, so if you're able to step in and pick up these pinch hits, the party thanks you! Pinch hits will be due at 11:59pm on Saturday, and you can claim them by commenting to this post with your AO3 name. All comments are screened!

24 hours remaining!

How goes that final boss? Have you run out of items or did you level grind so badly that the final boss was super easy! (Fun fact, I accidentally did the latter just now. Oops.)

Some things to keep in mind:

Please ensure that by the due date your assignment is in final and not draft form on AO3. You can of course continue to edit it until reveals, but I need to be able to see your completed assignment and I can only do that if it is not in draft.
At the due date I will be checking all works for obvious placeholders and also to see whether anything satisfies the requirements for the achievements. From a very cursory look it does look like we have unlocked some more, so good work guys!
If there are any pinch hits, they will go out at around 6am EST on the 12th.
Also going up at around 6am EST will be a list of people who turned in an assignment and who have 1-2 gifts, given that there is an achievement for everyone who turned in an assignment having one or two treats. If you're between assignments, maybe one of those will tempt you!
If you need an extension, please have your request in by midday on the 11th! Preferably with information about how long an extension you need.

Achievement Unlocked: Party Complete!

Assignments are out! There were some ... issues with matching, so if your assignment is at all unusual such as it being for a fandom you did not offer, please contact me immediately by email (press.start.mod[at]gmail) so that I can fix that for you!

A post will be going up soon for beta help, as well as a text file of all requests.

Signups Close 48 Hours! Also Trophy List

Signup Countdown

Signups close in about a day and a half (though they might run a little over time). Your countdown is here! I will not be allowing anyone to sign up late once signups close, because I am very keen to start the matching process and give you all the maximum amount of time to create, so please keep that in mind!

Trophies

This year, we have achievement trophies! I'm in the process of compiling a list of possible trophies for us to achieve. You can read the list here! I am also taking suggestions as to additional achievement trophies. They can be serious, or they can be really silly. I personally would love more silly achievement trophies! If you want a trophy to exist for f/fpreg, or transdimensional selfcest, or time travel shenanigans, or AU shenanigans, now is your chance! You have until assignments go out to help me come up with more trophies. I will also take suggestions on what the current trophies should be called, and whether a trophy should be moved from one category to another.

EDIT: I'm in the process of adding trophies for games/series/etc. If your game of choice doesn't have a trophy, please suggest something to me in the comments! I am probably stuck for ideas.

Signups Open for 2016

We are into my second favorite period of the exchange: signups! You can find the sign up form here. You are required to request at least three fandoms (and up to 10) and offer four fandoms (up to ten). You must offer two tags for each fandom. Requests are visible from the beginning, so you can offer confident in what will be requested this year!

As for tags, this year, things are a little different. We are matching on relationships and characters, and therefore matching is on OR. What this means is that if you request a fandom and request two tags in the fandom (such as group: A/B, and A), your artist/vidder/writer only has to include one "set" (in this case, either A/B, or A on their own). Please keep this in mind when signing up!

Finally, if you were asked to complete a story between last year's due date and this year's signups and have not, you are not eligible to participate.

Tag Set Review

Nominations are (mostly) closed!

You can find the tag set here.

Signups are not until July 4 and so the next few days are to make sure that the tag set is correct and all names and fandoms are spelled correctly. Please look at the tag set and see what is there, and whether it is all right!

Also, for between now and July 4 you can comment to this post with a character or relationship tag you would like added to the tag set and I will do it. The tag must be for a fandom that is already in the tag set.

Nominations Open

Nominations are open! You can find the tag set here.

Before we start nominating, some preliminary information!

Character Nominations
This year, you are able to nominate characters and character combinations! This means the following:

Character A - A fanwork where Character A must be the focus;
group: Character A & Character B - A fanwork where the gen relationship of Character A and Character B is the focus;
group: Character A/Character B - a fanwork where the shippy relationship of Character A and Character B is the focus. You are also free to nominate group: Character A/Original Male Character or group: Character A/Original Female Character.

Matching is "OR" this year, meaning that you match on a tag. If you nominate Character A and Character B as separate tags and request them, your creator is obligated to include only one of them. You are also required to offer two character tags. Please keep these two facts in mind when nominating characters and character combinations!

Crossover Fandoms
Crossover character combinations are eligible for this year as a trial run. There are some basic rules though so that I don't cry a lot.

When nominating a crossover, the fandom is Crossover Fandoms. I have already nominated Crossover Fandoms into the tag set so please use that spelling. Not nominating a crossover into this fandom will mean that nomination will be rejected;
Nominations can be for gen fic or ship fic;
Nominations are to be written like this: Character A (Video Game 1) & Character B (Video Game 2) (or Character A (Video Game)/Character B (Video Game 2);
There is no limit of the number of characters that are in a tag set, short of AO3's character limit;
All characters in the crossover combination must be video game characters.

Series of Games
This year the test for whether a game is part of a series and should be nominated as one is as follows:

Is the game marketed as being part of a series (i.e. a trilogy, games set in the same world etc etc);
Are the games that make up the series part of the same continuity or different continuities?
Is there a significant crossover of characters between the games?

Feel free to comment to discuss! At the moment:

Dragon Age (Video Games) is the correct tag for any nominations for Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age II, and Dragon Age Inquisition;
Final Fantasy games are separate to each other, except for the ones that are explicitly in continuity with each other
Kingdom Hearts is a separate continuity from Final Fantasy;
The Star Ocean games can be nominated separately;
I am open to discussion for the Kiseki series (Trails in the Sky, Trails of Cold Steel etc);
I haven't made up my mind about Avengers Academy (Video Game) as I don't know anything about it, so if you want to nominate it please tell me about it in the comments!

2016 Round - Preliminary Nomination Discussion

Nominations begin on June 19 and this year there is the potential for changes. One of the things that was suggested to me was the ability to nominate for relationships, and I never really got the opportunity to ask you guys what you thought about that.

There are three models for discussion this year, and I'd like to hear your thoughts as to which one you'd like us to use in 2016. They are as follows:

Model One: Nothing Changes

Tags are for individual characters.
Each fandom can only be requested once.
Matching is done on AND.

Model Two: Duplicate fandoms

Tags are for individual characters
Each fandom can be requested twice, but you must have three unique fandoms.
Matching is done on AND.

Model Three: Relationship nominations

Tags can be for individual characters, platonic relationships, and romantic relationships
Each fandom can only be requested once.
Matching is done on OR.

Regardless of what is chosen, you will still have to request one tag and offer two tags.

Other things for discussion:

Crossover pairings - do we want to do them or not?
Should fanvids remain as an option to choose?

Also a reminder: if you have been asked to complete a story prior to signing up this year, this is your third and final reminder. You have until 4 July 2016 to complete your story and email me with the link.
