2016 Round - Preliminary Nomination Discussion

Nominations begin on June 19 and this year there is the potential for changes. One of the things that was suggested to me was the ability to nominate for relationships, and I never really got the opportunity to ask you guys what you thought about that.

There are three models for discussion this year, and I'd like to hear your thoughts as to which one you'd like us to use in 2016. They are as follows:

Model One: Nothing Changes

• Tags are for individual characters.
• Each fandom can only be requested once.
• Matching is done on AND.

Model Two: Duplicate fandoms

• Tags are for individual characters
• Each fandom can be requested twice, but you must have three unique fandoms.
• Matching is done on AND.

Model Three: Relationship nominations

• Tags can be for individual characters, platonic relationships, and romantic relationships
• Each fandom can only be requested once.
• Matching is done on OR.

Regardless of what is chosen, you will still have to request one tag and offer two tags.

Other things for discussion:

• Crossover pairings - do we want to do them or not?
• Should fanvids remain as an option to choose?

Also a reminder: if you have been asked to complete a story prior to signing up this year, this is your third and final reminder. You have until 4 July 2016 to complete your story and email me with the link.

I like relationship noms, especially with the option for platonic as well as romantic!

I don't care about which method is done, but if number three is chosen then I'd like to vote in favor of crossover pairings.

Could you clarify how OR matching would work with relationship tags? (Apologies if this is a foolish question, but I've never participated in an exchange that uses them before.) For example, let's say that I request the fandom Super Mario Brothers, with the relationship tag Mario/Luigi. Would I be a potential match for writers who offered either Mario or Luigi as individual characters, or only to writers who specifically offered Mario/Luigi? Or should OR be interpreted to mean that I could request, say Mario/Luigi and Mario/Bowser and have the potential to match to people who offered either one of those relationships?

It's the second one! If you request only one tag (be it character or relationship), you can only be matched on that one tag. If you request two or more tags, you can be matched on any of them.

Thank you! In that case, I very much like option 3 for nominations. I have no strong feelings on the inclusion of crossover pairings or fanvids.
