Tagset queries

 Just some outstanding queries!

• Both Final Fantasy VII and Compilation of Final Fantasy VII have been nominated - any objections if I merge these together and keep it "Compilation of Final Fantasy VII"? Resolved; all FFVII characters are now in Compilation (even if AO3 hates Shinra and I had to manually add the Turks!)
• Dragon Age - my initial thoughts are to combine these nominations together for consistency, as issues like what timepoint you take Anders (and from the nominations themselves, Cullen) from is probably better left to optional details, but I'd like to hear more from people who are interested in offering and/or receiving the series  - Resolved, Dragon Age has been split off into individual games.
• Dragon Age Inquisition - Male Lavellan is a Male Inquisitor, do you really want both tags? - Resolved.
• Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2, and The Old Republic - are these part of a series? Or are they separate games just set in the same approximate time period? - resolved.

It's likely that some people will be open to requesting/offering any version of the Inquisitor, but some probably are only interesting in one? The different races can have a big impact on the character and story.

ETA: Not my nominations but The Old Republic is an MMORPG that takes place 300 years after the other two games which are just normal RPGs. I haven't played the MMO, but I assume there's probably not a lot of character crossover given the time separation.

Question: will matching be AND or OR? Like if I request Alistair, Zevran, and Male Warden, will I get matched with someone who offered all of them or with someone who offered at least one of them?

I did think that about the Inquisitor, but I wasn't sure if it was confusing or not. I'll keep both Quizzies in the tagset then!

Matching at this stage will be AND. Based on your example, someone would have to offer Alistair, Zevran and the Male Warden to be matched to you. If, however, I'm not able to get matches, I will contact everyone who has signed up to let them know that matching would be changed to OR, and so they can choose whether to stay or not.

I'm fine with grouping the Dragon Age games together; that's always my inclination, too. OTOH, it seems the less popular option for exchanges recently. I suppose one question would be if everyone has played Inquisition yet - it is quite a long game.

Not my noms either, but Knights of the Old Republic and the Old Republic are part of a series, but actual appearance by characters from the different games are fairly minimal. For example, there is a fair bit of content about Revan (the PC in the first Knights of the Old Republic) in SWTOR, but it's mostly about Revan's legacy. And for Knights of the Old Republic II, the player makes decisions about who Revan was and it does change things, but it's more like the way the Dragon Age Keep affects Inquisition (and Revan does not appear in II at all, though some of the other characters from the first game do).

Thanks! I'll keep the issue of the Dragon Age tagset open. I'm still waiting to hear from the Star Wars nommer, but so far I'm leaning towards keeping them separate.

I nominated at least 2 of those SW fandoms. KotOR I and II could be argued either way. They could probably be grouped, even though they were made by different developers, because they take place within 10 years of each other. And some characters, like Revan, affect both games or appear in both. On the other hand, somebody might only want charactrs from or events from one of them, so I could see keeping them seperate.

Since SWTOR is 300+ years later, I think that should be separate.

-I think Compilation should be merged.
-No opinion on Dragon Age being split or merged.
-I would say to keep Male Lavellan and Male Inquisitor as seperate tags. There are so many variations of the the protagonists of the three Dragon Age games that it is understandable that some people would want to be a bit more specific with requesting the PCs.
-KotOR and Old Republic are connected, but I'd say in this case it makes more sense to group KotOR 1 & 2 together but keep Old Republic separate or split all three apart.

The Compilation has been merged! AO3 hates the Turks, so I had to add them manually but they should definitely all be there now.

Both Quizzies are going to stay in the tagset, once I work out what the Dragon Age tagset is.

I'll keep the issue of the KotOR and Old Republic open until their nominator comes in.

I nommed SWTOR and it's definitely a separate game from the KotOR games. There's basically no character crossover because of the time difference; I'd compare it to maybe the difference between Elder Scrolls games than the difference between Mass Effect games.

I also don't have much opinion on Dragon Age split or combined. I guess if it's likely to make the tagset hugely bloated, it would be better to separate them? Big tagsets can be harder to match.

Not a problem, those games are approved separately!

There are currently 24 unique nominations across the three DA games. Combining them would make it the largest group of tags but not hugely so as Pokemon currently has 23.

I am one of the Dragon Age nominators and my preference would be for the games to be split. Personally, I'm interested in very different things in regards to the fanworks related to each game, and would want to be able to request and offer those things separately instead of having to mash them both together into one huge mega-request.

I also think the Star Wars KOTOR games should be kept separate. As the commenter above says, there's very little character crossover between the two of them, and their stories are quite distinct.

So I was looking at the tagset and I see some KotoR1/2 era characters in the SWTOR tags... Brianna | Handmaiden ; Carth Onasi ; Mical | Disciple ; Mira (Star Wars) ; are all from Kotor1 and 2, and are all dead by the time of SWTOR.
