Otherwise known as: Press Start 2018 is almost here!

E3 is almost over which means that it is time for everyone to start considering their nominations. If you have participated in previous years you will know this already, but nominations are "OR", you match on relationships or characters, and you are nominating five games (or series of games), with six characters/relationships for each game.

There is one change to the rules which applies to this community only: anonymous comments are all initially screened and will only be unscreened if you include your AO3 name in the comment. I've never really had a problem with Press Start participants and you are all good eggs, so the automatic screening may be lifted during the exchange itself. If this causes you concern, please feel free to comment or email me at press.start.mod@gmail to discuss

Finally, what should I call the collection this year? Current thoughts are:
Press Start IV: The Gifting Years
Press Start: Gift of Fire IV
Press Start: Fallout Giftvegas
Harvest Moon: Press Start
The Legend of Press Start: Breath of the Wild.

I'm also open to suggestions!

Question from a hopeful first timer: Can one nominate six characters + six relationships per game, or is it six all up (eg. four characters + two ships, three of each, etc) per game?

The last two names sound misleading for a general video game fic exchange, at least I think so. However, Press Start IV: The Gifting Years amuses me because the game it references and the game that last year's exchange name referenced both have shaky reputations from what I've read online. Hehe, so as much as I'm a BoF fan, I'd throw my support behind The Gifting Years.

Another question leading up to nominations: If a game has non-game tie-ins (eg. novels, comics), can characters who appear only in the tie-ins be nominated?

I'm afraid not! All characters must be in the video games in question.

+1 for Fallout Giftvegas, especially for the meta-joke of it not actually referencing Fallout 4. Beautiful.

Alternatively there’s probably a great joke somewhere in the Kingdom Hearts games but I am not the person to make it. Or maybe something off of Persona 4: Dancing All Night?
